2009 Scholarship Recipients

Terrance D. Jackson

Terrance has excelled at Booker High school academically. He has also contributed to the Booker High Community serving as the president of the National Honor Society at Booker High School and acting in many theater productions.

Terrance will be attending The University of Central Florida and will major in acting.

In addition to attending classes, Terrance volunteers at the Bahia Oaks Senior Center.

He attends the Abundant Life Christian Church.

Cedric M. Jones

Cedric loves aeronautics and dreams of becoming an Aerospace Engineer. He has been accepted at Embry Riddle, the World's leader in aviation.

Damarius R.Wright

Damarius plans to major in mechanical engineering.

Damarius' goal, "excellence....business and education."

2008 Scholarship Recipients

Nathan Sardinas

Nathan is completing his first semester at Manatee Community College, Venice. His major is Graphic Design. He is passionate about graphic design and intends to transfer to UCF, Orlando for his junior and senior years. He seeking a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree.

In addition to attending classes, Nathan works at a nursing home 4 days a week and lives at home. He staying grounded and focused. Nathan's maturity is reflected in his essay statement, “I desire to graduate and become a mentor to other minorities, through role modeling, instruction and example.”

Quinlin S. Johnson

Quinlin is enjoying success in his first semester at Manatee Community College. After completing two years he intends to "finish up" at a university with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree.

He plans to transfer to a University and earn a degree in Criminal Justice. His future plans are solid: "I will be in the law enforcement field.”

Marcus K. Suarez

Marcus is currently attending the University of Central Florida where he has completed the summer and fall semesters. Marcus is majoring in Management Information Systems.

Marcus believes that this degree will allow him to do everything from helping to construct a business plan to overseeing network security to directing internet operations. The duties and responsibilities can be quite different, depending on the type of company you work for. Marcus said, "I feel this career will be very challenging and exciting, and will allow me to fulfill my professional aspirations."
