5th Annual USSSA Sarasota-Bradenton
Open (Boys Baskball Tournament)
The tournament
is an annual event featuring teams from Naples to Ocala, Florida. The proceeds
are used by the Alpha Phi Alpha Foundation of Manasota, Inc., a tax-exempt
501(c) 3 charitable organization, to facillitate mentoring young men, developing
future leaders, and promoting post-secondry education through scholarships.
Fifteen teams participated in the 2010 Tournament representing 5th through 8th
grade students from 8 cities:

Brother Hershel Caywood, Jr., is the driving force behind the tournament which started as an effort to stimulate the local economy of Bradenton and raise funds for the Boys and Girls Club of Manatee County Youth Program.
Brother Caywood was recognized in May 2010, by the City of Seminole Mayor Jimmy Johnson, as an Angel in the community for his work with “At Risk” youth through the sport of basketball.
