Brother Lionel McMurren enrolled in Omega Chapter, the chapter of eternal rest for brothers departed.

On behalf of Alpha, the Brothers of Xi Psi Lambda extend deepest condolences to the family and friends of Brother McMurren in this time of mourning and celebration of a life of service.

From his birth in Harlem New York and early years in Elizabeth City North Carolina; his service to God as a stalwart church member, Sunday school teacher, steward, trustee and Director of Camp Service; his service to country as a soldier in World War II; his service to community as an educator serving in all roles from teacher to principal; and his service as a husband and father he was a man of principal and honor.

Brother McMurren was a scholar-athlete. He earned a Doctor of Philosophy Degree from Fordham University and played a winning game of tennis.

 As an Alpha brother, for 64 years, he leaves a legacy of brotherly love, dependability and thoughtful deliberation. His passion expressed in his words “Enjoying life in Sarasota Florida area with cherished friends and wife Jean, playing bridge and socializing.”

Brother McMurren, you have fought the good fight, you have finished the race and you have kept the faith, rest in eternal peace. Through you are no longer with us physically; your fraternal spirit will live with us forever.
